A parliamentary election took place in Cape Verde on 22 January 2006. This was the country's fourth legislative election since the introduction of multiparty politics in 1990.

Five political parties fielded candidates for seats in the 72-member National Assembly. They are the ruling African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), Movement for Democracy (MpD), Democratic Renewal Party (PRD), Social Democratic Party, and the Democratic and Independent Cape Verdean Union (UCID). Only the PAICV and MpD have presented candidates in every electoral constituency.
