Fox Entertainment Group is an American entertainment industry company that owns film studios and terrestrial, cable, and direct broadcast satellite television properties. It is wholly owned and controlled by American media conglomerate News Corporation, since the company acquired all the stock of Fox. The transaction was completed on March 12, 2005.
It is named after William Fox, born Wilhelm Fuchs, who created the original Fox Film Corporation.
In 1995, Saban entered into a joint venture with the Fox Children's Network to form Fox Kids Worldwide. In 1997 it was renamed Fox Family Worldwide.[1] On July 23, 2001, it was announced that Fox Family Worldwide (now ABC Family Worldwide Inc.) would be sold to Disney from News Corporation and businessperson Haim Saban.[2] On October 24, 2001, the sale was completed.[3]
