[edit] California related Wikiprojects

It seems to me that all the California related Wikiprojects (outside of the top-level WP:CAL) are inactive. If this is the case, why not just make them all task forces of WP:CAL? I just had a look at each of them the other night and noticed most have the inactive tag, with the exception of the SF Bay Area project (but they aren't necessarily active either), and that two of them are now task forces. Anyways, just an idea to throw out.

I initially looked because I came up with the idea of creating a "Centralized discussion" template for all the California-related Wikiproject, but none of them are active :-/ Killiondude (talk) 20:58, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I was looking at SFBA and LA for possible merges too, but there's a few issues. SoCal and Santa Barbara were categorizing items into WP CAL anyway, SFBA and LA are not. There used to be separate SF and SF Bay Area projects which were merged a few years back, and I think LA and SoCal should similarly be merged. But with both SFBA and LA I'm trying to think about how that would change participation, actual article building, and assistance. With Cal Delta and Cal Schools, they never really started and I think a merge would be non-controversial. -Optigan13 (talk) 22:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] TV Interview

Dear Optigan13,

I am trying to locate contributors to Wikipedia who live in San Francisco and might be available for an on-camera TV interview next Thursday (6/25) about Wikipedia and what motivates you to contribute to Wikipedia. If you are interested please let me know. I am also looking for other Wikipedia contributors in San Francisco who would potentially be interested in doing this.

Thanks.

[edit] Thanks for the welcome and the suggestion pages, Optigan13

I just wanted to say thanks for the welcome message and the references to learning about editing Wikipedia pages. I am slowly finding my way and your pointers are much appreciated. I've worked in the California tourism industry for more than 12 years, so it might be fun to lean more about how I can help update California pages where I see they need help.

Thanks, again, for the tips! HBGal (talk) 01:46, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem, have fun. -Optigan13 (talk) 03:37, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Unprotection Quebec City

Hello, I had read the "Protection Page" first and followed the instructions there, that said to put the unprotect tag on the talk page. Not sure what else you want from me? Seems like a government bureaucracy: goto window 1, @ window 1 - Sign says goto window 2 - @ window 2 Sign says goto window 1....--UnQuébécois (talk) 08:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)--UnQuébécois (talk) 08:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

tweaked Protection policy for clarity diff. -Optigan13 (talk) 05:47, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Template message

re: [1]

Thanks for catching that! It's been a little busy day, so I've been making mistakes all day. Once again, you saved the day. :-) Renaissancee (talk) 05:25, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

response there [2]

The School only invited WPMED, so I only invited them. I'll contact them and if they want more projects, they'll get them. Renaissancee (talk) 05:38, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
