Assessment is an important process on Wikipedia. Assessment occurs when an item is evaluated and feedback is given in the form of a rating, prose etc. Assessment of the material Wikipedia presents to its readers is especially important. Foremost here is assessment of articles, which is largely done via WikiProjects and coordinated at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment. Articles may also be reviewed, see Wikipedia:Peer review and Wikipedia:External peer review. The best articles may also become good articles or even featured articles. Also included here is evaluation of media files used in articles: pictures and sounds, and non 'article' pages: lists and portals.
Assessment of other facets of Wikipedia may also occur, however. Editors can even have themselves 'assessed' at Wikipedia:Editor review.
