[edit] Nominations for the Oak Leaves
[edit] Abraham, B.S. (Bryce Abraham)
I would like to nominate Abraham, B.S. (talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of his many valuable contributions to the project: he is an active reviewer; an active and sensible contributor to Milhist discussions; and a fine content contributor, notably on Australian VC winners. --ROGER DAVIES talk 12:49, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- PS: And he's a gentleman. He always sends a thank you note for an award before posting the award to his wall of fame. Small point, but an important one :) --ROGER DAVIES talk 13:22, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ian Rose
I'd like to nominate Ian Rose (talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Australian military history articles, and particularly articles on senior Royal Australian Air Force officers. To date these include four FAs, an A-class article (which is currently at FAC and looks certain to pass) and four GAs. Ian is also a highly civil and collaborative editor and a good source of advice. Ian was previously awarded the WikiChevrons on 21 March 2008. Nick-D (talk) 04:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Raul654
I'd like to nominate Raul654 (talk · contribs) for the chevrons w/oak leaves. Although not a member of the project, Raul has contributed to eight featured milhist articles, six of which still retain their bronze stars. Additionally, Raul has occasionally shown editors of various projects - including ours - leeway in adding articles to the TFA list when date relevance or other issues suggest a TFA appearance. Raul has also generously added to our visual library by taking plenty of pictures for our project. For all these reasons I believe Raul654 deserves the chevrons w/oak leaves.—Preceding unsigned comment added by TomStar81 (talk • contribs) 00:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] MisterBee1966
Nominate MisterBee1966 (talk · contribs) for the Oak leaves. Nominated for creating and writing seven featured lists on German military awards during the Second World War and for contributing to four good articles and being instrumental in promoting three of them to A-Class status. At the moment Heinrich Bär is also nominated for FA status (it at A-Class at the moment). Dapi89 (talk) 21:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Weak oppose- beyond deserving of the normal chevrons, but not the oak leaves yet. These things are precious and reserved for truly amazing things (though I still feel like a jerk here, hence the 'weak'...) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:14, 22 February 2009 (UTC)- Support - I took literally one glance at the WWII aces list and immediately came here to switch. Normally, the FLs I look at aren't even close to the standard of FA, so I'd weigh them about 3 FLs to 1 FA. I know that lists are supposed to be a shorter than full articles because they have a more limited scope, but normally I will see like 2 refs to 1 book and a bunch of web references. However, his aces article has 11 refs (with one repeated quite a few times) from eight total books. Assuming that holds for his other FLs (which I have no reason to doubt), that kind of dedication over three years should be rewarded. My apologies for originally opposing; I hadn't realized just how much work he has put in. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 19:55, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Oppose; an excellent contributor, but for the present I agree with Ed. However, MisterBee1966 is certainly overdue for the standard chevrons if these haven't yet been awarded, and I'd support a future oak leaves nom if those GAs became FAs ;) EyeSerenetalk 12:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)- Switch to support. The GAs and FLs didn't quite tip the nom over the bar for me, but taken together with MisterBee1966's exceptional dedication over such a long period (and the fact that he's an Imperial triple crown holder and is clearly a huge asset to the project, and has already been awarded the chevrons) it would be churlish of me to deny him the thanks and recognition he undoubtedly deserves. EyeSerenetalk 20:26, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Strong support • MisterBee is a low-key low-profile editor who has given a great deal to the project and received very little in return. For three years, he has worked hard building almost from scratch a comprehensive series of articles mostly on the German WWII Knight's Cross (though this is not his only field of contribution) and continues to diligently expand them. And his featured lists – List of foreign recipients of the Knight's Cross, List of German World War II jet aces, List of Knight's Cross recipients of the U-boat service, List of Knight's Cross recipients of the Schnellboot service, List of Knight's Cross recipients of the Kriegsmarine with others in production – are not to be sneezed at :) --ROGER DAVIES talk 19:36, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Support - I was going to abstain based on the opposes by Ed and EyeSerene, but Roger has convinced me. Those FLs are simply amazing, just as Ed has stated. -MBK004 20:35, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I hope youse don't mind me butting in here (as usual ;-)), but don't forget MisterBee's exceptional work on German flying aces—particularly Heinrich Bär and Walter Nowotny. :) Cheers, Abraham, B.S. (talk) 20:41, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Support As his articles are all in a foreign language as well (bit of the Oscars spilling over I think) --Jim Sweeney (talk) 22:37, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Strong support The creation of featured lists and the associated articles is not an easy task. To maintain and develop these articles takes a lot of effort, effort that should be applauded especially given the timescale of his dedication. Regards, Woody (talk) 22:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Thank you Thanks folks for the honors, I truly appreciate this! MisterBee1966 (talk) 08:04, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ex post facto support Sorry I missed this, I would have comment here earlier if this had been open a little longer :-/ TomStar81 (Talk) 01:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] The Land
I'd like to nom the not-so-aptly named (:D) The Land (talk · contribs) for the oak leaves for his contributions in the area of maritime warfare. This guy got battleship, pre-dreadnought, and ironclad warship to FA in 2007 and dreadnought to FA just today. Those would be four core articles in maritime warfare and (at least) one core article in all of warfare! In addition, he has significantly contributed to six of the seven articles in the history of the battleship series: the four above (assuming "battleship" itself counts), treaty battleship and Battleships in World War II. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 22:28, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Support as nom —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 22:28, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Moonriddengirl
- With sixteen coordinators, nine is a majority
I'd like to nominate Moonriddengirl (talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of her efforts to track down copyrighted articles within our scope in the aftermath of the GrahamBould copyright affair and notify the projects effected by the copy and pasting of non free material directly into Wikipedia, which included our milhist project. Although not a member of our project, and not a recipent of the wikichevrons, I feel that the circumstances surrounding this particular incident warrent more than just a simple chevrons, so I am asking for special consideration for this nomination, and point out that as our criteria specifically states generally members and generally recieved chevrons first, we have occasionally bent the rules in the past for editors worthy of such acclaim. TomStar81 (Talk) 20:24, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- This only impacts very slightly on the project and I'm reluctant to agree to make an exception under these circumstances. Give her a personal award by all means but the Oakleaves is a bit over the top. Roger Davies talk 20:33, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose per Roger. -MBK004 21:56, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose Although a good editor whose notice was really appreciated, I can't see any significant contribution for our project and I'll back Roger as well. --Eurocopter (talk) 22:01, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Deserving of the Chevrons, for bringing this to our attention, but the Oak Leaves for just this seems rather extreme. – Joe N 23:43, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose per Roger, Eurocopter and Joe. Her efforts were/are immensely appreciated, but the Chevrons with oak leaves is a little bit much. As Joe states, deserving of the Chevrons. Cheers, Abraham, B.S. (talk) 00:47, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
- Reluctant Oppose - An excellent editor who is doing a difficult job, but there were only a few MILHIST articles affected. Support the Chevrons, however. Skinny87 (talk) 13:05, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Neutral per Roger Davies (talk · contribs) and Skinny87 (talk · contribs). If there were many Milhist articles, I'd support, but it was only a few. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 14:24, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Although an important contribution, not significant enough for the Oak Leaves IMO; however, support Chevrons/barnstar/something suitable with grateful thanks per the above. EyeSerenetalk 07:21, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Respectful oppose Moonriddengirl is an outstanding editor and is doing fantastic work here, but this (thankfully) hasn't had a big impact on our project - only a tiny number of articles are affected. She deserves Chevrons and/or the Wikiproject medal though as a thank-you. Nick-D (talk) 07:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
-
- I've awarded her the standard Chevrons, for which there seems consensus. Roger Davies talk 08:54, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
