Wonju is the largest city by population city in Gangwon province, South Korea.

Wonju is a city approximately 90 miles east of Seoul. Wonju is home to three major universities which draw many students from Seoul and elsewhere. It was the site of a battle in the Korean War.

The city is home to two U.S. Army bases, Camps Long and Eagle. There is an E-mart, as well as two movie theaters (Lotte and Cinus). An active foreign population of 100+ teachers and soldiers exists.
